Weld Shop Supervisor

This weld shop supervisor is responsible for directing and managing the Material Prep and Weld Shop department by performing the following duties. 

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Supports Safe Work Practices, 5S and Housekeeping to ensure a safe work environment for employees. 
  • Active member on the Safety Committee. 
  • Responsible for interviewing applicants, training and evaluating employees. 
  • Assist in planning of production operations, priorities and sequences for manufacturing products. 
  • Maintain metrics and communicate daily – safety, quality, delivery issues and schedules to production floor personnel. 
  • Create and maintain a department budget by year based on sales and production goals. 
  • Monitor monthly supply costs and manage spending based on budget created for the department. 
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Troubleshoots defective components/assemblies for corrective action. 
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines. 
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations to provide a safe workplace for all employees. 
  • Drives continuous improvement changes in department and use of equipment to increase efficiency. 
  • Researches, and recommends the purchase of new capital equipment. 
  • Initiates, develops or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goals. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

  

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or 5 plus years of comparable experience in a Supervisory/Manager role.  
  • Experience managing complex projects and direct reports.  
  • Computer skills with a background in MRP. 
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, multi-tasking and planning skills.
