Machine Maintenance Mechanic

Summary: Reporting to the Manufacturing Plant Manager, the Machine Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on machinery and mechanical equipment, such as manual and CNC machines, motors, forklifts, hoists, etc. in accordance with drawings, repair manuals, schematics and/or manufacturers specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Observes mechanical, electrical devices or equipment in operation and listens to sounds to detect malfunction or diagnose problem.
- Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts, gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Performs general maintenance on motors, pumps, belts, hoists, jibs, machining equipment, welders, etc. according to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Installs and repairs electronic components on machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance by adjusting and calibrating manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, etc.
- Ability to use DMM, Oscilloscope, and performs diagnostic tests, checking performance, and testing damaged machine parts/troubleshooting to determine whether major repairs are necessary by following machine specifications and adhering to maintenance schedules.
- Read part schematics, other testing equipment.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Ability to drive equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, scissor/boom lifts, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Two (2) years of electronic/electrical degree or equivalent required.
3. Training in machine tool maintenance or 2 plus years of machine maintenance repair preferred.
4. General knowledge in electrical and electronic systems.
4. General working knowledge of OSHA lockout/tagout regulations.
5. Knowledge of CMMS (computerized maintenance management software).
6. Excellent attention to detail, multi-tasking, organizational and planning skills.
7. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
