Computer Systems Administrator

The Computer Systems Administrator assists internal departments, dealer network and end-users with support issues that arise related to the NPKCE computer systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Upgrades, installs and troubleshoots workstation, laptop, printer and photocopier hardware and software.
  • Create and maintain Active Directory users/computer objects.
  • Network and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Develops and documents system standards and workflows for end-user computer devices.
  • Monitor helpdesk queues, process tickets, and interface with users in fixing issues.
  • Document all technical procedures and user guides.
  • Handles highly confidential information/material.
  • Supporting, implementing and/or administering networks using Microsoft Windows Active Directory (Server 2012 and 2016), some Microsoft Hyper-V


  • Attendance – Consistency in attendance between 8 AM and 5 PM weekdays is essential. Attendance outside of normal office hours, including early mornings, nights and weekends, may occasionally be required.
  • Communication - Possess good and effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to deal with situations and individuals that are in distress due to issues with the NPK computer systems in a positive and upbeat manner is essential.
  • Initiative – Ability to make decisions with the best available information so as to resolve typical daily issues that are encountered with minimal oversight.
  • Appearance - Maintain the highest standards of personal cleanliness and present a neat and professional appearance at all times.
  • Job Knowledge - Display high level of knowledge, always able to complete all normal job tasks independently and regularly assists others with high level of job knowledge.
  • Time Management – Manage time well so that attention can be applied to different activities during the day, ranging from the simplest to the most complex. Ability to multitask when necessary.

Experience and Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED, College or Technical School preferred.
  • CompTIA A+ and Network+ certification, current Microsoft OS certifications preferred – or 2+ years equivalent work experience in a related field
  • Familiarity with ConnectWise Automate/LabTech software
  • Good written and oral communication skills including technical documentation
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Able to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90 percent of the time while operating their computer and performing office work.  The individual needs to occasionally move about inside the office.  They constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer printer.  They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and others in the office while interacting.  The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and make adjustments as necessary.

Work Environment:  

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
